LonVMUG 23rd January 2014

First VMUG of the year*. That has a nice sound to it. Full of promises for lots of good events to come. The lovely folks who organise the London VMUG look to be putting on a super first event for 2014 and I’m looking forward to it. As well as having a distinctly “cloudy” flavour to it, there’s a series of lightning talks on home labs scheduled. I know that the committee have been debating a trial of this format for a while now because I’ve suggested it a time or two myself. It works very well at CloudCamp (which, coincidentally, is on the same day but starting at 6:30pm – register for it here if you’re interested) and I hope it will fit in very nicely here too. SWVMUG Launch and Google Hangout

Jeremy and I participated in a brief Google Hangout today with Simon Eady and Barry Coombs, our co-leaders of the South West UK VMUG. We officially announced our first meeting date (Tuesday 18th February 2014 in central Bristol) and spent some time discussing some of the things that we collectively did at VMworld Europe recently. The full video of the hangout is below. Once venues etc are firmed up for our first SWVMUG meeting we’ll get a registration link opened up on our VMUG page.

First London VMUG of 2013 – Register Now!

You know that I love my VMUGs. They’re great events that offer plenty of opportunities to meet new people, network, learn a thing or two and – best of all – they’re free to attend! Thursday 24th January 2013 see’s this year’s first London VMUG occurring at the usual place near Mansion House tube station: London Chamber of Commerce and Industry 33 Queen Street London, EC4R 1AP There are some great presenters and subjects on the agenda, including the event’s sponsors – Nutanix, 10 ZiG and Zerto. There are usually a few prizes / giveaways on offer and I’m adding to that pot with a couple of VMware Fusion 5 Professional licenses… If you can’t make the event itself then there’s always vBeers nearby afterwards.
